2010 Edublog Awards Nomination

The following are my nominations for the 2010 Edublogs Awards:

Best resource sharing blog – Free Technology for Teachers Blog by Richard Byrne   http://www.freetech4teachers.com/

Best individual blog – Around the Corner by Miguel Guhlin  http://mguhlin.org

Best teacher blog – Cool Cat Teacher by Vicki Davis http://coolcatteacher.blogspot.com

Best use of a PLN – Initiative started by Beth Still to send a teacher to ISTE that has never been before   http://bethstill.edublogs.org/

Best educational use of a social network – Classroom 2.0 Ning  http://www.classroom20.com

Best educational use of video / visual – K12 Online Conference by Conference Organizer Wes Fryer  http://www.k12onlineconference.org

Most influential blog post – This year I have selected a blog post by Karen McMillan aka ‘McTeach’ where she shared about an interesting idea to use with students to teach proper blog etiquette and commenting on students blogs. This blog post/idea was shared by McTeach when she presented for us on ‘Classroom 2.0 LIVE!’. Several teachers in the session implemented this activity with their students and we still get questions of interest several weeks later. Karen heard a presenter at CUE who shared this and Karen’s blog post shared her reflections and observations when she implemented this activity with her students. The concept, although implemented with students, is an important one for bloggers of all ages and topics.  http://www.notesfrommcteach.com/2010/09/learning-to-blog-using-paper.html

Best webinar series – DEN webinars http://www.discoveryeducation.com

Best educational tech support blog – Moving at the Speed of Creativity by Wes Fryer http://www.speedofcreativity.org/

Lifetime achievement – Kevin Honeycutt  Kevin is one of the most amazing educators I know. I have gotten to know him via his tweets/plurks and love approach to learning and hosting conferences – create an ‘experience’ for the participants. I know this is the basis for the Podstock Conference he organizes but it is also seen in the Artsnacks/Mathsnacks websites he created for students and teachers to share and discuss instructional strategies. Kevin’s enthusiasm is infectious and makes for such a rich, inspiring experience for everyone involved!  http://mathsnacks.com/ http://essdackartsnacks.ning.com/

Good luck to all of the nominations submitted this year!
