Web Conferencing to Enrich Learning and Connect Globally

Saturday, October 23rd is going to be a busy day for online conferences. The DEN is hosting their Fall Virtual Conference and sessions continue as part of the 2010 Global Symposium hosted by CRSTE.

As part of the Global Symposium, my presentation is scheduled for 3pm EST/2pm CST and I hope you join me. I will be talking about a subject that is near and dear to my heart – web conferencing. Not a week goes by that I am not in a web conference or hosting a web conference. Through web conferences and webinars, I am able to connect with educators around the synchronously and asynchronously.

I believe I have found my niche: online learning, online professional development, and online presentations. The sole reason I went after an advanced degree was to enable me to teach and mentor educators online and facilitate online courses. As a former technology specialist, I employed the use of web conferences with other specialists on different campuses in the school district. This is a strategy that is supported by research showing students perform at a higher level and increase the quality of their work when their audience is expanded beyond just their teacher and peers. Helping students travel the globe and experience cultures, different languages, habitats, and cuisine without leaving the classroom is my passion and ultimate goal when presenting professional development sessions for education. I only wish I had the bank account to finance my purchases at all of the stops around the globe!

Join me for a session on connecting globally via web conferencing at 3pm EST:

I welcome your contributions to the conversation and appreciate your show of support for my session. Our regularly scheduled ‘Classroom 2.0 LIVE!’ has been canceled tomorrow and will resume on October 30th. Hope to see you online!
